Ben Houston Signs with Legion

Powerful No. 8 Ben Houston returns to California ahead of the 2026 Major League Rugby season, adding size, leadership, and proven production to the California Legion.

Houston made his MLR impact with Rugby FC LA in 2025, starting all 14 matches and finishing among the league’s most productive forwards. He crossed for eight tries, completed 160 tackles, and consistently delivered go-forward ball in both structured play and broken-field situations. His performances earned multiple MLR Team of the Week selections and established him as one of the most reliable back-row forwards in the competition.

A Sydney native, Houston grew up in a rugby family and developed through Australia’s competitive club system with Randwick. He later captained the club to the Shute Shield title, their first championship in nearly two decades, showcasing his leadership and work rate in high-pressure matches.

At 6'4" and 270 pounds, Houston brings a rare blend of power and mobility. Comfortable carrying in traffic, defending relentlessly, and contributing at the breakdown, he provides balance across the back row while setting a physical tone for the forward pack.

Houston now returns to California ready to build on his strong MLR debut season and help drive the Legion forward as the club shapes its roster for 2026.
