Smith developed through the USA Rugby pathway and represented the United States at the U20 level in 2024. He was also selected to the USA Eagles Extended Player Squad in 2025, placing him within the national team development system.

Before entering MLR, Smith played collegiate rugby at Hartpury University in England, competing in the BUCS Championship and gaining experience in one of the country’s top university competitions. During his time in England he also featured in a development match for Gloucester Rugby against Bath.

Smith grew up in Connecticut where he played both football and rugby at Trumbull High School. Known for his speed and attacking instincts from the backfield, he transitioned into the professional ranks after strong performances in the English university system.

Now joining Legion, Smith adds youth, pace, and USA pathway experience to the backline as the club continues building its roster for the 2026 Major League Rugby season.
