US-eligible Tongan prop Ma'ake Muti arrives at Legion following the 2025 Major League Rugby season with the Miami Sharks. The front-rower now brings size and experience to Legion as preparations continue for the 2026 campaign.
A native of Tongatapu, Tonga, Muti moved to Hawai‘i with his family in 2008, where he developed as a multi-sport athlete. At Leilehua High School, he competed in wrestling and track and field while also playing football and club rugby with the Kalihi Raiders, showcasing the athletic versatility that would later serve him well in professional rugby.
Muti went on to play collegiate football at Azusa Pacific University from 2014 to 2019 before returning to rugby after graduation. His professional rugby career began when he signed with the LA Giltinis for the 2021 MLR season, contributing to the club’s championship-winning campaign.
Following his time in MLR, Muti joined the American Raptors, competing in Super Rugby Americas between 2021 and 2024 before returning to Major League Rugby with the Miami Sharks for the 2025 season. There, he made 16 appearances and earned multiple MLR Team of the Week selections, reinforcing his value at the professional level.
His recent performances also earned national recognition, with Muti named to the USA Eagles’ 35-man alignment camp in February 2026, highlighting his continued development on the international radar.
Now joining Legion for 2026, Muti adds front-row strength and high-level experience as the club continues assembling a competitive squad for the upcoming season.
