Scrum-half Tasman Smith joins Legion for the 2026 season after multiple campaigns in Major League Rugby. The dual-national playmaker brings experience and tempo as preparations continue for the new season.

US-born, Australian-raised scrum-half Tasman Smith arrives at Legion after competing with RFCLA across the past two Major League Rugby seasons. Smith now adds valuable experience and tempo at scrum-half heading into 2026.

Born in New York while his parents were working in the United States, Smith grew up in Australia, where he captained Cranbrook High School’s First XV while also playing competitive cricket. He later attended the University of Sydney, balancing studies with opportunities in professional rugby.

Smith first appeared in Major League Rugby with the LA Giltinis during the 2022 season, earning six starts across fourteen appearances while continuing his development between academic commitments.

Following the relocation of Rugby ATL, Smith returned to MLR with Rugby FC LA for the 2024 season, appearing in all sixteen matches during the franchise’s inaugural year. He remained a contributor again in 2025, helping guide the attack throughout the season.

Across his MLR career, Smith has totaled 46 appearances while contributing three tries and providing steady control around the breakdown. His quick service and ability to manage tempo give Legion added depth at scrum-half entering the 2026 season.
