MLR Semifinal: Legion Announce Starting XV vs Seattle Seawolves
California Legion has named its Starting XV for the Major League Rugby Semifinal against the Seattle Seawolves, set for Sunday at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, Washington. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 PM PT, with a place in the MLR Championship in Chicago on the line.
Just seven days after closing out the regular season in Seattle, Legion returns to familiar surroundings with another opportunity in front of them.
The stakes are simple. Win, and California advances to the MLR Championship. Lose, and the season comes to an end.
The immediate rematch adds another layer to an already fierce rivalry. Seattle claimed last week's regular season finale at Starfire, but Legion enters the semifinal armed with fresh lessons and the belief that a different ending is within reach.
Jason Damm Captains the side once again, with Gonzalo Bertranou and Billy Meakes serving as Vice Captains.
Oscar Treacy returns to the starting lineup after announcing himself against Seattle earlier this season. The rookie winger scored a key try in his MLR debut during Legion's Round 4 victory over the Seawolves and will once again be called upon in one of the biggest matches of the year.
At fullback, Rory van Vugt returns to the Starting XV for the first time since Round 7. The experienced playmaker rejoins the lineup with a place in the MLR Championship on the line.
