Steve Hoiles
Former Wallaby Steve Hoiles joined California Legion as Head Coach ahead of the 2026 season.
Steve Hoiles takes on the Head Coach role following a return to Major League Rugby in 2025, where he led RFCLA to the Western Conference Final.
He spent the previous two seasons with Randwick in Australia’s Shute Shield, delivering a drought-breaking championship in 2023 and earning Coach of the Year honors in 2024.
Hoiles brings strong experience in Southern California, having coached in Los Angeles during the 2021 and 2022 MLR seasons, winning the title in 2021.
A former ACT Brumbies captain and Super Rugby champion, Hoiles also earned 16 Test caps for Australia with the Wallabies.
He now leads California Legion with a clear focus on building sustained success and growing the game across the region.
