Former Wallaby Stephen Hoiles joins California Legion as its Head Coach in late 2025.
Hoiles takes up the top job after a return season in MLR in 2025, before two seasons with Australian Shute Shield club Randwick that included a drought-breaking championship in 2023 and Coach of the Year honors in 2024.
Hoiles is no stranger to Rugby in SoCal, having coached Los Angeles in Major League Rugby in 2021 and 2022, winning the title in 2021. With that stint in LA ending earlier than anticipated, Hoiles said he had always hoped he might end up returning to the MLR.
Having taken RFCLA to the finals in 2025, Hoiles takes the reigns at California Legion, with a strong view of seeing Californian Rig thrive beyond 2026 Season.
A former ACT Brumbies Captain and Title winner in Super Rugby, Hoiles played 16 Tests for the Australian National Team, the Wallabies.
